There’s no money in poetry, but there’s no poetry in money either.
Robert Graves
“Get out and get a real job” is a constant refrain in the life of any creative artist. The inner strength required to believe in yourself and the worth of what you do can dampen inspiration and your ability to embody your dreams. So what is it that keeps the creative fires burning? What is it that inspires you to pursue your vision with passion?
What is it as an artist that is as important to you as the air you breathe?
Much of the artist’s journey is about revealing a unique voice. But how do you find out what that is when the world and the artistic profession itself wants to put you in a box of its own choosing? In our complex world art and artists have become commodities, and in order to sell us to an overstimulated audience we are reduced to the lowest common denominator and forced to fit into boxes that make us easily recognisable to the mass market. The need to conform to some sort of expected image kills the creative spark by making it incredibly hard to achieve financial and professional success without fitting in. Yet this spark can only be sourced through individual imaginations and comes through the whole vista of life itself, the mistakes, the successes, the traumas, the joys. True creativity comes with the allowance to be authentic and real.
THE CIRCULAR SOUNDS PROCESS
Are there other ways to look at your creativity and apply it to areas you’ve not yet dreamed of? The CS Process answers the question “Is there another way to look at this” by inviting you to apply it to any aspect of your life that challenges or holds you back.
With the use of our six elements
LANGUAGE – COLOUR – SHAPE – SOUND – MOVEMENT – FEELINGS
you explore these challenges by transforming them from one element to the other through different creative media. This enables you to gain new insights with each successive activity. These include:
Guided Imagery – visualisation and relaxation techniques access thoughts and ideas you never knew you had.
Games – assimilate new skills and ideas through play and laughter, relaxing the nervous system so that creativity flows.
Mandala – uses shape and colour to draw upon inner awareness and represent the creative flow of ideas by literally building your transformation within the circle before you.
Exploring as a group
The focus of this process is individual exploration, but a great part of the value of CS is that this occurs in a group setting, allowing you to experience your creative contribution in successive levels of interaction with others. We work with the premise that action is fundamental to learning and once you have experimented with bringing your skills to a joint activity you will really understand how you can make a difference in the wider world.
CIRCULAR SOUNDS AND YOU
Taking part in a Circular Sounds workshop will give you the opportunity to find your own answers to the problems that confront you in your work, and open you to solutions that may surprise you.
- Release creative blocks and free yourself from self limiting beliefs
- Find time and space to create your work
- Find your unique voice and where it fits within the wider whole
- Use your creative talents to move beyond the limits of your “training”
- Reclaim your function and purpose within the community
The world needs artists more than ever. It needs us all to be artists. Culture is the only thing that defines our identity both as individuals and communities. It’s time for us to reclaim our function, purpose and our place within the communities of the world.
